Energy efficiency and behavioural change: Reducing carbon footprint through ICT and sustainable actions

The fact that there is an untapped potential for energy savings that could be harnessed by changing energy habits and behaviour inside buildings is widely accepted. Yet, the human dimension of energy use in buildings is often insufficiently considered, and behavioural triggers are not well understood. In this context, ICT tools can help consumers better understand their energy use and manage their energy consumption while achieving significant energy and economic savings, without compromising comfort. In this Results Pack, we meet a number of innovative EU-funded projects that demonstrated efficient, cost-effective and socially acceptable technology solutions that motivate consumers to engage in basic energy-saving behaviours.
